Write a Literary Lunch Menu
Think of favorite book titles - any titles that you love. Think about what the main character or characters might like to eat or think about a food that is in the book. For example, here are some ideas I had:
Bread baked by The Little Red Hen by Paul Galdone
Peanut Butter & Jelly from Peanut Butter and Jelly by Nadine Bernard Wescott
Applesauce from Applesauce Day by Lisa J. Amstutz and Talitha Shipman
Gingerbread cookies from The Gingerbread Man by Eric Kimmel
Milk from It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles G. Shaw

This is my menu for lunch.
Now make up your lunch menu and see if you can make your menu for your lunch today or tomorrow.
Ask your friends or brothers and sisters to help you think of foods in books that you all might like to have for lunch. Piggie in Mo Willems' Elephant and Piggie books likes to eat slop. I think I will skip that menu item but I'm sure you will be able to think of more appetizing foods.
Make a list of the books and write your lunch menu. Illustrate the menu and if you want share your menu in the comments below.
You might even want to find a food that you need to find or make a recipe. For example Chris Raschka wrote a book titled Cowy Cow. It is a simple book but Cow has ideas - and one of them is that if one chews grass long enough it might taste like a gluten free oatmeal raisin cookie. Here is a recipe for a gluten free oatmeal raisin cookie.
